Watercolors by Paul Sherman at Miles Memorial Hospital
If you get a chance, stop by Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, Maine, and take a look at my first Solo Exhibition August 11 to September 21, 2012.
Miles League Solo Exhibition
By Paul Sherman Miles Hospital League welcomes artist Paul Sherman for a solo exhibition at Miles Memorial Hospital in the lobby area, Aug. 11-Sept. 21. Paul Sherman lives and works in Damariscotta and South Bristol. Sherman’s interest in drawing and painting began at an early age. When he was eight he began informal training with William Goadby Lawrence, an accomplished oil and watercolor painter in Edgecomb and New York City. Bill Lawrence’s tutelage continued on and off for 30 years.
This is a watercolor of a vintage Ampeg SB-12 bass amp. I have been experimenting with a limited palette lately. Surface textures like the Tolex at the bottom, the control knobs, and the aged nickel plated front panel lend themselves to working with a range of values in only two colors.
